Hosting Tips and Etiquette

As someone who loves hosting tea parties, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks along the way. Here are some hosting tips and etiquette to ensure that your tea party is a success!

Tea Party Traditions

When hosting a tea party, it’s important to keep in mind the traditions that come with it. Afternoon tea and high tea are two different types of tea parties, and it’s important to understand the differences. Afternoon tea is typically served in the late afternoon and consists of light snacks, such as scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts. High tea, on the other hand, is a more substantial meal that is served later in the day, usually between 5 and 7 pm. High tea includes heartier dishes, such as meat pies, quiches, and other savory items.

Another tea party tradition is the use of proper tea etiquette. When serving tea, always pour the tea into the cup first, and then add the milk and sugar. When stirring the tea, be sure to do so gently and without making any noise. And always remember to hold the tea cup by the handle, with your pinky finger down!

As an avid tea party enthusiast, I am always looking for new and exciting ways to infuse creativity into my events. One of my favorite ways to do this is by incorporating seasonal and thematic variations into my tea parties. Not only does this add a fun twist to the traditional tea party, but it also allows me to tailor the event to the specific occasion or time of year. Here are a couple of my favorite seasonal and thematic variations for tea parties.

Summer Garden Parties

There’s something about sipping tea in a beautiful garden that just feels so right. That’s why I love hosting summer garden parties! To create the perfect garden tea party, I like to incorporate lots of fresh flowers, pastel colors, and delicate tea sets. I also like to serve light and refreshing teas, such as citrus or floral blends, to complement the warm weather. For snacks, I like to serve finger sandwiches and fresh fruit skewers. And to really make the event feel like a garden party, I’ll often have lawn games set up for guests to enjoy.

Holiday Themed Tea Parties

Tea parties aren’t just for the summer months! In fact, one of my favorite ways to celebrate the holiday season is by hosting a holiday themed tea party. To create the perfect holiday tea party, I like to incorporate lots of festive decorations, such as garlands and twinkling lights. I also like to serve warm and cozy teas, such as cinnamon or peppermint blends, to complement the chilly weather. For snacks, I like to serve holiday-inspired treats, such as gingerbread cookies and mini fruit pies. And to really make the event feel like a holiday party, I’ll often have a gift exchange or holiday-themed games for guests to participate in.

Whether you’re hosting a tea party for a specific occasion or just want to infuse some creativity into your next event, seasonal and thematic variations are a great way to do so. With a little bit of planning and creativity, you can create a tea party that is truly memorable for you and your guests.
